Welcome

The Aruba Financial Center was created and has been in operation since July 29, 1996. During the following years this office was engaged in the development of Aruba as a financial services center. As a result of this a necessity was felt to be in a more direct communication with the public. Thus the idea of an Aruba Financial Center website came to life. Through our website we try to intensify the meaning of the Aruba Financial Center as a one-stop-information point by being linked to different websites that are of importance for possible investors. As a result of last years response, the Aruba Financial Center plans on having another PAO-course about the limited liability company (VBA) during the latter part of 2009. As you may know, a presentation was held in oktober 2008 by prof. mr. Wino van Veen with assistance of mr. Benno Oldenhof in anticipation of the introduction of the VBA on the 1st of January of this year. We are also planning other PAO-courses and will keep you informed via this site and through your umbrella organizations on the dates and topics of such presentations.

As you may have noticed, the year 2009 brought some big additions and changes to the Aruban legislation regarding the financial services. On of those changes was the amendment of the MOT/LIF legislation on the 2nd of February 2009 to expand the reporters to the MOT. Also on this date the State Ordinance on the Supervision of Company Service Providers (landsverordening Toezicht Trustkantoren) was introduced thus all company service providers in Aruba (a.k.a. trust companies) now report to the Central Bank of Aruba.

On another note. The Aruba Financial Center together with the Aruba Investment Bank, the Aruban Association of Tax Consultants, Aruba Bankers Association, Central Bank of Aruba, Tax Department, Department of Education, Finance Department, Aruba Insurance Association, the Bar, Chamber of Commerce and ATIA form part of the International Financial Center ( IFC) committee. This committee was been established as part of the ‘Nos Aruba 2025’ project.

Aspiration of this committee is building a new pilar for the Aruban economy: a well-known and respected International Financial Center with (highly) educated people, an advanced infrastructure, including a state of the art supervisory regime that meets international standards, a superb service level and a friendly tax regime with full transparency as well as a regulatory regime that meets international standards.

The committee will present itself to the press and public on the day this site is launched, the 3th of July 2009.
